118 24 7

118 24 7 is Yell’s 24 hours a day, seven days a week, multi-award winning* telephone-based information service that targets callers seeking information on businesses and services over the phone. Our ‘Talking Pages’ product was launched nationally in 1994 and was replaced by “Yellow Pages 118 24 7” in 2003. Now known simply as “118 24 7”, this service provides accurate, up-to-date UK business and residential telephone listings.

Callers explain their needs to trained operators who search our extensive database to find matching products or service providers, or the appropriate business or residential number. Callers then choose to have the number read out, and if calling from a mobile to have it sent by text to their phone, or (for an additional charge) to be connected to the selected number. A link at the bottom of the text message allows callers to access additional information, maps and directions.

118 24 7 has a database of approximately 2.3 million product and service providers, UK-wide residential listings, and detailed information provided by businesses who have taken the opportunity to advertise with the service. For Advertisers, an Enhanced Listing on 118 24 7 provides not only their business contact details, but additional information about their products and services, and other useful information such as opening hours, location, coverage, parking and offers. These details can be updated free of charge at any time by the Advertiser – making the service ideal for promoting particular products and seasonal or special offers.

In March 2009, 118 24 7 launched the TextBack service. For those occasions when making a phone call isn’t appropriate, 118 24 7 TextBack makes it easy to locate and call a late-night taxi, a nearby Italian restaurant, or find out cinema information and film timings. When a customer texts in a request, our operators will quickly locate the information and text it back to them.

118 24 7 implemented a significant advertising campaign in 2009, promoting the theme of ‘Directory Heaven’ on TV, radio and online channels. 118 24 7 was awarded “Best UK Service” in 2010* – the fifth time it has picked up this prestigious award. This latest award follows on the back of success in 2009 where 118 24 7 was voted "Best UK Service" as well as receiving accolades for “Best Marketing Campaign” and “Customer Service Agent of the Year”.*
