New Media Services

The New Media Services team at Yell is responsible for Yell.com, one of the UK’s leading web sites, as well as for developing mobile information services and our customer portal, Yell Direct. If you are looking for a challenging, stimulating environment where your contribution will help to grow and transform our business, then New Media is just the place for you.

Software development
We run a multi-functional team comprising developers, web designers and information scientists who create the software and manage the data that powers and renders Yell.com and Yell Direct. Developers need Java skills and an in-depth understanding of web application development and the software development life-cycle. Designers need to combine visual creativity with a good understanding of web presentation coding.

QA and Site Support
These two teams are responsible respectively for ensuring the quality of new site developments and for maintaining Yell.com and Yell Direct. Ideally, QA analysts will have a software testing accreditation and relevant experience. Support engineers need outstanding problem-solving skills, together with experience with Sun Solaris, Apache web server and Resin application server.

Marketing
The Yell.com Marketing team manages the full range of marketing activities, including product management, new product development, customer acquisition and retention programmes, and effective above and below the line communications to users and advertisers. It's a fast-paced, creative environment where the focus is on developing and implementing innovative value propositions in a growth market. Site Development
The Site Development team ensures the user proposition on Yell.com meets and exceeds expectations for users and advertisers alike. To do this, we bring together the skills and enthusiasm of product managers, web interface designers, search engine marketers and traffic analysis specialists. If you have a passion for creating satisfying web experiences and delivering great usability then you’ll fit in – particularly if you are fascinated by search engines and their potential.

Programme Management
The team makes sure our projects deliver their commitments and meet the needs and expectations of our stakeholders - advertisers, users, internal support units and shareholders. Yell Direct
Yell Direct is the e-portal that allows our customers to access their accounts 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Through Yell Direct they can view and amend their adverts, review their accounts, including invoices and statements, arrange payments and edit their details. The team is transforming the way we enable our customers to do business with us, moving towards a fully–automated, self-service environment that matches the demands of our online, digital world.
