Chester households urged to recycle old Yellow Pages - 22 October 2001
Householders across Chester City are being urged to participate in a Yellow Pages recycling campaign which gets underway at the same time as delivery of the latest edition of the directory. The campaign aims to collect thousands of old Yellow Pages and recycle them as part of the council-run Chester’s Environmental Recycling Scheme (CHEERS), via its ‘green bag’ kerbside recycling scheme.
As an added incentive, The Directory Recycling Scheme, sponsored by Yellow Pages, will dedicate an area of young trees in a woodland Trust woodland to four lucky residents whose directory is selected at random from the collection. To enter, householders are asked to put their name and telephone number clearly on the outside of the front cover of their old directory before recycling it.
Russ Kendrick, Chester City recycling supervisor, said: “We are delighted to be able to link with The Directory Recycling Scheme. Its partnership with the Woodland Trust will give great encouragement to our residents to recycle their old Yellow Pages in our already successful CHEERS kerbside recycling scheme.”
Adam Billiald, co-ordinator of The Directory Recycling Scheme, added: “Supporting local authorities to recycle directories is a major strategy for Yellow Pages in promoting environment-friendly activities. We are pleased to be working with the Woodland Trust and to offer this initiative to Chester City – I’m sure it will prove very popular.”
