Dundee schools in line for £500 prizes in new Yellow Pages recycling scheme - 22 October 2001
A new campaign aimed at ensuring more people recycle their old Yellow Pages has been jointly launched by Dundee City Council and The Directory Recycling Scheme, sponsored by Yellow Pages.Every school, college and university in the area will be provided with green sacks, bearing a distinctive Yellow Pages recycling sticker, in which to collect their old directories.
The Directory Recycling Scheme is supporting the Dundee Schools’ Recycling Initiative, offering two prizes of £500 to improve the school environment.
The first prize of £500 will be given to the school which collects the most copies of old Yellow Pages. .
Once the directories have been shredded, participating schools will then be asked to build a model encouraging and promoting a recycling message. The second prize of £500 will be given to the best entry at a School Model Exhibition in the City Square in late December.
The recycled Yellow Pages will be used as animal bedding by Camperdown’s Wildlife Centre, Pets at Home, or be put into the city’s composting system.
