Households urged to follow the 'Yellow Recycled Road'. - 29 January 2002
Off to recycle her old Yellow Pages, Dorothy, portrayed by Surrey Waste Management’s Minimisation Advisor Louisa Keel, travelled down a special version of the Yellow Brick Road made up of old Yellow Pages directories.
Households are being encouraged to follow Dorothy’s example and recycle old Yellow Pages - displaying fish on the cover - when the new edition of the London South West directory - sporting fluffy chicks on the cover - is delivered this month. The Yellow Pages recycling campaign has been set up by Elmbridge Borough Council in partnership with Surrey Waste Management. The campaign has received a grant from The Directory Recycling Scheme, which is sponsored by Yellow Pages.
Residents can recycle their old Yellow Pages until the end of February at the following locations:
- Torrington Lodge car park, Hare Lane, Claygate
- Sainsbury’s , Bridge Way, Cobham
- Downside Bridge Rd car park, Cobham
- Civic Centre car park, High St, Esher
- New Berry Lane (Safeway) car park, Hersham
- Sadlers Ride car park, Molesey
- Churchfield Rd car park, Weybridge
Adam Billiald, co-ordinator of The Directory Recycling Scheme, said: "Supporting local authorities to recycle directories is a major environmental strategy for Yellow Pages. I encourage everyone to do their bit and take their directory along to one of the recycling banks."
