Yellow Pages directory recycling made easier in Weymouth and Portland - 10 November 2004
Householders in Weymouth and Portland are being urged by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council to recycle their old 2003/04 Yellow Pages directory when the new 2004/05 edition is delivered to their doors over the next few weeks. The Council has been given a grant by the Yellow Pages Directory Recycling Scheme to make it easier for residents to recycle their old directory by simply placing it into the council’s regular green kerbside collection box. Yellow Pages directories will be accepted in kerbside collections until February 2005.
All the old directories collected will be recycled into animal bedding by local recyclers, Perrys Recycling.
Gary Hedges, Recycling & Waste Management Officer with Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: “Kerbside recycling is the easiest way to do your bit for the environment. Thanks to the support of Yellow Pages, we’re able to offer this directory recycling opportunity to our residents.”
Richard Duggleby, head of external relations at Yell, publisher of Yellow Pages directories, said: “Directory recycling is a key business aim for us and we are delighted that the council and people of Weymouth and Portland are helping us improve our environmental performance.”
