Recycling race hots up - 12 January 2005
Schools across Cardiff are in a recycling frenzy, collecting as many old Yellow Pages directories as they can. The schools are taking part in the Yellow Woods Challenge – the simple, educational and fun schools environmental campaign run by Yellow Pages and the Woodland Trust, working with Cardiff County Council. For the past four weeks, schools have been competing against each other to collect tonnes of old Yellow Pages directories for recycling into insulation by Excel Industries.
£700 worth of cash prizes are at stake and for every pound Yellow Pages awards to schools, it will give a matching pound to the Woodland Trust to support its new ‘Tree For All’ campaign. Top performing schools can also win native tree saplings to plant in their grounds.
So the race is on to collect as many old Yellow Pages directories as possible before the Challenge closes on February 25, 2005.
