Yellow Pages directory recycling made easier in Hackney - 16 March 2006
Householders in Hackney are being urged by Hackney Council to recycle their old 2005/06 Yellow Pages directory when the new 2006/07 edition is delivered to their doors over the next few weeks. The Council has been given a grant by the Yellow Pages Directory Recycling Scheme to make it easier for residents to recycle their old directory by simply placing it into the council’s regular kerbside collection.
All the old directories collected will be recycled into animal bedding by ECT – the UK’s largest community recycling organisation.
Jessica Crowe, Lead Member for Environment in Hackney Council, said: “Kerbside recycling is the easiest way to do your bit for the environment. Thanks to the support of Yellow Pages, we’re able to offer this directory recycling opportunity to our residents.”
Richard Duggleby, head of external relations at Yell, publisher of Yellow Pages directories, said: “Directory recycling is a key business aim for us and we are delighted that the council and people of Hackney are helping us improve our environmental performance.”
