Yellow Pages directory recycling made easier in York - 9 February 2006
York residents are being urged by City of York Council to recycle their old 2004/05 Yellow Pages directory when the new 2005/06 edition is delivered to their doors over the next few weeks. The council has been given a grant by the Yellow Pages Directory Recycling Scheme to place special recycling banks around the city and make it easier for local residents to recycle their old Yellow Pages directory.
Residents should look out for the recycling banks with bright Yellow Pages stickers on them at the following locations from 24 February until 18 April:
-Foss Islands Road Household Waste Recycling Centre
-Towthorpe Household Waste Recycling Centre
-Beckfield Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre
All the old directories collected will be recycled into paper by Blackburns Waste Disposal.
Sara Goodhead, from City of York Council's Waste Strategy unit, said: “Thanks to the support of Yellow Pages, we’re able to offer new directory recycling opportunities to residents. I encourage everyone to use these facilities over the next few weeks.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind residents that Foss Islands Road Household Waste Recycling Centre will be moving in Spring whilst the Yellow Pages recycling banks are still out. The new site will be located around the corner at Hazel Court, James Street which is just off Clarence Street. Please look out for notices at Foss Islands which will inform you when it will be moving.”
Richard Duggleby, head of external relations at Yell, publisher of Yellow Pages directories, said: “Directory recycling is a key business aim for us and we are delighted that the council and people of York are helping us improve our environmental performance.”
