Yellow Pages go green - 2 August 2006
Stockport residents are being urged to think green and recycle their old 2005/06 Yellow Pages directory when the new edition is delivered to their doors over the next few weeks.The Council has been given a grant by the Yellow Pages Directory Recycling Scheme to place special recycling banks around Stockport to make it easier for local residents to recycle their old Yellow Pages directories.
Householders are to look out for the recycling banks with bright Yellow Pages stickers on them at the following locations from 8th August until 29th September 2006:
- Morrisons, Reddish Road, Reddish
- Morrisons, Stockport Road West, Bredbury
- Woodley Precinct, Hyde Road, Woodley
- Sainsbury’s Cheadle Royal, Cheadle
- Etherow Country Park, George Street, Compstall
- Brabyns Brow Car Park, Brabyns Row, Marple Bridge
- Windlehurst Village Hall, Windlehurst Road, High Lane
- Heald Green Village Hall, Outwood Road, Heald Green
- Meadway Car Park, Meadway, Bramhall
- Massie Street Car Park, Cheadle
- Morrisons, Edgeley Road, Edgeley
- Car Park, Kings Drive, off Heaton Moor Road, Heaton Moor
- Brinnington Labour Club, Northumberland Road, Brinnington
- Tescos Extra, Tiviot Way (off Portwood Roundabout), Portwood
Old Yellow Pages directories can also be recycled in the cardboard containers all year round at the following sites:
- Household Waste Recycling Centre, Railway Road, Marple
- Household Waste Recycling Centre, Torkington Road, Hazel Grove
- Bramhall High School, Seal Road, Bramhall
- Stockport Lads Club, Offerton
- Adswood Eco Centre, Adswood Road, Adswood
- Bredbury Household Waste Recycling Centre, Bredbury Parkway, Bredbury
Councillor Hazel Lees, Executive Member for Environment, said: “Thanks once again to the support of Yellow Pages, we are delighted to be offering improved directory recycling opportunities to our residents. There are around 120,000 households in Stockport and if everyone recycled their old Yellow Pages directory a huge amount would be cut from the cost of placing them in landfill.”
