Eastleigh Residents Encouraged to Recycle Their Old Yellow Pages Directories - 27 April 2007
This year, there will be eight special sites across Eastleigh where old copies of Yellow Pages directories can be taken for recycling.Last year a trial Yellow Pages directory recycling bin was installed in Hedge End for eight weeks and almost a tonne was collected. With the help of the Yellow Pages Directory Recycling Scheme, a total of twelve bins will be provided this year from the middle of May until the beginning of August to coincide with the issue of the new edition of the directory.
The bins will be located at:
- Abbey Hall car park, Victoria Road, Netley
- Mortimer Road car park, Botley
- Hedge End retail park (Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer), Tollbar Way, Hedge End
- Tesco Extra, Bursledon
- Wyevale Garden Centre, Winchester Road, Fair Oak
- Civic Offices, Leigh Road, Eastleigh
- Adsa, Chandler’s Ford
- Waitrose, Chandler’s Ford
The directories are recycled into cardboard, animal bedding and insulation material. However, they cannot be accepted in the green recycling bin as they aren’t suitable for recycling with the other paper material that is collected.
Eastleigh residents continue to be the best recyclers in Hampshire and are within the top ten in the country. The Borough currently recycles almost 40 per cent of its waste.
