Talking Pages Launches Ads of Age - 5 June 1999
After a two-year absence from our TV screens, Talking Pages is back with an exciting £3m advertising campaign. The new campaign focuses on a younger audience and features Irish comedian and Millennium pied piper Graham Norton, the 18-34 sector’s guru of the moment.
Norton, who has appeared in a litany of radio and television shows including Radio 4, Father Ted, and the cult Channel 4 show So Graham Norton... , takes the viewer through a series of ten sublime advertisements which range from a kitsch pseudo party scene through to a clipped coupon and soothing hypnotic spiral telling viewers to relax and remember the 0800 600 900 number.
The spiral effect in Relax unashamedly informs viewers they ‘will remember this number’ and should be all they need to spring into action whenever they want to find the number of any service or company in particular, wherever they might be. The velvet voice of Motown artist Edwin Starr who sings the catchy tune to Flipping Jingle, is also featured harmonizing 0800 600 900.
The advertisements are due to be shown over a three month period beginning 7 June - the first ad on terrestrial television will be shown during Hideaway on Channel 4 just before 11 p.m. on Monday evening. The campaign will be screened on Channel 4, Channel 5, ITV and satellite channels.
