Yellow Pages is Open to Interactive TV - 27 June 2000

Yellow Pages has joined forces with Open - Britain’s leading interactive digital TV service available on Sky Digital - to supply restaurant and hotel information services.

Whether you’re looking for a budget bed in Berkshire, or High Tea in the Highlands, the Yellow Pages Eating Out and Places to Stay guides, which will feature on Open from mid July, have the full low-down on places to eat and stay the length and breadth of the country, including price and booking details, plus descriptions and colour pictures of some of the places you could be dining or residing.

"Digital TV users already pick up a lot of information from the comfort of their armchair via Open, and now they can use their TV to find places to stay and eat out throughout the UK," said Yellow Pages managing director, John Condron. "The opportunities for digital TV technology are endless and we want to be part of that," he added.

James Ackerman, Chief Executive of Open, said: "With Yellow Pages we add a great name with a great reputation among consumers. With its vast range of information about places to stay and eat out in the UK, Yellow Pages will be very popular among the millions of Open users."

Yellow Pages also has a range of new media offerings, with Yell.com available on the Internet and over mobile telephony, via BT Internet, Genie from BT Cellnet and the soon to be launched Mviva ‘powered by AOL’ portal from Carphone Warehouse. And to ensure internet users can find Yell.com quickly and easily, Yell.com has extended internet presence through distribution partnerships with leading web sites such as MSN, excite, handbag.com, BT Internet & BT Timesmart.
