Internet users in East Anglia are the most cultured suggests recent Yell.com research. East Anglians are three times more likely to subscribe to arts and music sites than other UK surfers. And when they’re not tapping their toes to exclusive downloads from the internet, one in ten people in the region are subscribing to media sites; more than twice the national average.

East Midlands

People in the East Midlands are also the most impressed by the size of the web with 16% saying it was the most amazing thing about it.
London
Education-related websites are the sites most frequently visited by London internet users, according to new research.
Web sites specifically geared to education were the most frequently visited sites, both in London and nationally. This suggests that today’s biggest web advocates are parents, students and professionals who are using the internet as a virtual classroom to get ahead at school and at work.
The research also suggested that people in London are the most materialistic, with a third of people wanting to find success on the net. It seems that Londoners are also the loneliest region with a quarter wanting to find friends on the net and 6% wanting to find love online.
North East
Internet users in the North East use the web to make money – Yell.com research reveals
Over a third of internet users (33%) in the North East claim that their favourite websites are those relating to finance and nearly 60 % of those want to make money on the net.
The good news for the rest of the UK is that they were happy to share their internet cash, with one in ten people from the North East using charity sites on a regular basis, nearly double the UK average visits to charity sites.
North West

Nationally web sites specifically geared to education were the most frequently visited sites, suggesting that today’s biggest web advocates are parents, students and professionals who are using the internet as a virtual classroom to get ahead at school and at work. This also mirrors the view of people in the North West with nearly one third believing that the biggest impact of the internet has been on furthering their education.
Scotland

Internet users in Scotland are more likely to log onto sports related sites and spend more time per week on the net than other UK web surfers.
South West
Time and money are the two things that people in the South West spend most on the internet – Yell.com survey reveals

More Internet users in the South West visit commerce sites than anywhere else in the UK. It also appears that they are not just window shopping, because, in the last six months, one in ten surfers have spent over £500 on line.
Access to information was regarded as the most amazing thing about the Internet by more people in the South West than anywhere else. This was reflected in the amount of time spent online with more than half of the respondents spending between one and five hours online a week.
South East
Internet users in the South East are the funniest on the net – Yell.com survey reveals
More people in the South East subscribe to funny sites than anywhere else in the UK. With their sense of humour also comes a sense of community as South East users said they couldn’t live without community related web sites.

Wales

Fun and games are the highest priority for Welsh Internet users – Yell.com survey reveals

More people in Wales log onto web sites related to games and fun than other UK internet users. The Welsh also think that one of the best things about the internet is shopping.

The survey suggested that Welsh kids and parents are the most net-savvy, since kids and youth sites were visited more frequently by people in Wales than any other region in Britain.

West Midlands
