The countdown begins for the Yell.com/Awards - 16 July 2001

Time is running out for UK internet users to vote for their favourite Websites in this year’s Yell.com/Awards. Nominations for the "people's choice of the best on the Net" close on the 20 July.

Now in their sixth year, the Yell.com/Awards 2001 have seen a record number of nominations for all 12 diverse categories. The six week voting period has provided an exciting platform for well known brands such as www.tesco.com
to compete against local community sites like www.leicesterguide.co.uk for a prestigious Yell.com/Award.

In the Travel and Leisure Category, www.go-fly.com maintains a leading position. Votes for Best Finance and Best Funny Sites will need to hot up in the last week if they are to mirror the "battle of the bands" between www.Sclub7.com and www.Stepsofficial.com in the Best Arts and Music Category. The only way to make a difference is by placing your vote at www.Yell.com/Awards.

John Condron, CEO, Yell, said: "The Yell.com/Awards offer internet users the perfect opportunity to recognise those sites that have captured the imagination and spirit of the internet. There are some outstanding sites out there and I hope the nominations keep coming in."

Following the close of nominations on July 20, the panel of high profile judges will begin the difficult judging process and will select one winner in each of the 12 categories. Winning Websites will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony at Atlantis Gallery, London in October.
