Bedfordshire nappy company wins free radio advertising campaign in Yell.com competition - 22 March 2002

A Bedfordshire company, which delivers and recycles environmentally friendly nappies, will be hitting local airwaves this month, having won its own radio advertisement in a recent Yell.com competition. The Cotton Fresh Nappy Service, was chosen at random from more than 3,000 entrants, all Yell.com advertisers, hoping to win over £10,000 worth of radio air time to promote their business.

Leading actor Richard Briers, famous for playing Tom Good in the BBC’s ‘The Good Life’ and for roles in numerous plays, films and TV shows, provides the voiceover for Cotton Fresh’s advertisement, which tells the tale of a ‘Mrs Rabbit’ character helping the environment by using Cotton Fresh nappies. The advertisement will run on Chiltern FM (96.9, 97.6) and Horizon (96.4) for a six week period from mid March.

The competition will enable Cotton Fresh’s founders, Terri Creed, Trevor Jones and Carol Lawrie to further build upon the company’s success, since they launched in Kempston in 1998. The company’s aim is to provide an alternative to disposable nappies for environmentally minded people. Launched by Yell.com, a leading UK directory website, the competition featured on a recent customer newsletter that the company publishes.

Trevor Jones, founder and partner of the Cotton Fresh Nappy Service, said: “We’re so pleased to have won the Yell.com competition. We recognise the importance of advertising on air, having gained a strong response from a previous radio advertising campaign. It was a great experience meeting Richard Briers and watching him record the voiceover. We’re looking forward to hearing our new radio advertisement and hope it will increase awareness of Cotton Fresh in the Bedfordshire area.”

Richard Duggleby, head of external relations at Yell, said: “Yell.com provides its advertisers with a range of relevant products and services, to enable them to develop their businesses. The radio competition is a fabulous opportunity for the Cotton Fresh Nappy Service to promote its products to local listeners and we hope the radio campaign generates a high level of business leads for them in the months ahead.”
