Could your business name win you £5,000? Yellow Pages launches 2004 search - 23 July 2004

Businesses across the UK with a catchy name could be in with a chance to win £5,000 by entering ‘Best Business Names’ 2004. Yellow Pages, the UK’s leading classified directory, is once again launching a nationwide search for Britain’s ‘Best Business Name’, inviting nominations from consumers and businesses themselves by August 31, 2004.

This year, twelve regional winners will each receive £500, while the national winner will be presented with £5,000. In addition, Yellow Pages is offering £500 to the person who nominates the Best Business Names 2004 national winner.* To nominate a business name simply call 020 7009 2820 or e-mail bestnames@redconsultancy.com with your suggestion, your name and contact information.

Best Business Names 2004 follows the success of last year’s inaugural competition which was won by Cornish landscape gardener The Lawnranger, who said: “Lots of people rang up to say they had seen the business mentioned in the local papers. It generated a lot of interest and we received a lot of new business calls from people who had read about the competition. I enjoyed every moment of it and would really recommend taking part as it’s a brilliant experience!”

Richard Duggleby, head of external relations at Yell, publisher of Yellow Pages directories, said: “We’re looking for business names that are both memorable and relevant to their line of work. Whether there’s a pun in the title or clever use of words, originality is crucial for success.”

“With thousands of businesses listed in Yellow Pages from hairdressers and plumbers to aromatherapists, we are confident that a flick through the directory will highlight the sheer range and ingenuity of British business names – we simply want to recognise the best.”
