Yellow Pages wins top European Directory Publishing Award - 23 September 2005

Yellow Pages has beaten other major European classified directories to win a top international award for quality and excellence.

It topped the “Best Business to Consumer offline directory” category in the prestigious European Association of Directory Publishers (EADP) awards, which annually attract entries from leading players throughout the European directory and database publishing sector.

Award judges were particularly impressed by Yellow Pages’ track record for innovation as well as its marketing and promotional support, which has included a series of high profile TV adverts featuring actor James Nesbitt.

The classified directory, published by Yell, was also assessed against criteria including market focus, completeness, ease of use, design and production quality.

Ann Francke, Yell’s chief marketing officer in the UK, said: “I’m delighted that our Yellow Pages directories have been acknowledged as the best in Europe.

“This is a real feather in the cap for everyone at Yell who’s worked hard to ensure the directory is as contemporary, useful and efficient a product as possible, both for our advertisers and our consumers.

“This has involved widescale activity, ranging from the detail of selecting the most effective typeface for our classification headings through to planning and delivering a multi-million pound TV advertising campaign in support of the directory.”

The seventh annual EADP awards were the showcase of the association’s recent 40th annual Congress in Stockholm, which is the largest directory publishing event in Europe attracting around 230 delegates from 30 countries.
