Yell.com gets a taste for food - 30 November 2006
Yell.com, the UK’s local search engine, has launched a dedicated food and drink channel, designed to help users find independent and specialist food and drink suppliers from around the UK who will deliver direct to their homes. Now consumers need not trawl the local shops in order to source delicacies or speciality foods, as a huge variety of products including fresh goat’s cheese, smoked salmon, ostrich meat and rare wine vintages are all available through the new site.
All suppliers on the Food and Drink channel accept internet or telephone orders, and offer delivery of goods straight to the customer.
The channel benefits from additional content in the shape of recipes from Delia Smith’s “Delia Online”, articles from wine expert Jancis Robinson and seasonal recipe ideas and advice from food journalist Rosemary Moon.
Eddie Cheng, president of Yell.com, said: “We continually look at ways to enhance the user experience, offering far more than our traditional directory business. The new food and drink channel is just one of our new developments and taps into the nation’s new found passion for good quality food and drink. Importantly, we are supporting independent suppliers who don’t necessarily have a huge high street presence.”
