Yellow Pages Supports Local School with Green Collection - 27 September 1999

Yellow Pages invites you to a presentation at Colebourne Primary School, Stetchford Road, Hodge Hill, Birmingham on Thursday 30 September at 10:00 am when Amy Gill and colleagues from Yellow Pages will be handing over to Karen Jarratt of the PTA a package of items to help the school, the environment and a disability charity.

The school is collecting used computer inkjet cartridges to raise funds. For every cartridge that is handed over, between 50 pence and 1 pound goes to the school’s PTA and 25 pence is donated to The Wheelchair Association.

The PTA encouraged parents who have the opportunity to ask their workplace to donate their spent cartridges. Yellow Pages got involved through Amy Gill who has two children attending the school. She enlisted the support of Chris Dawson, the office’s environmental representative, to publicise the scheme internally and to make sure it would count towards Yellow Pages registration to ISO 14001.

"We’re so pleased Amy and Chris asked us to get behind this initiative," says Angela Campbell, Telesales Manager. "Yellow Pages is committed to looking after the environment and we recycle all our cartridges anyway. This is an ideal opportunity to make sure what we do at work directly helps schools and charities on our own doorstep. I encourage other businesses to donate their cartridges to support a good local cause."

The school will also receive a free copy of the ‘Active Recycling’ pack, containing a video, wallchart and a booklet of activities that teach children how to recycle materials, including their old Yellow Pages directories.
