'Staying In' Is The New 'Going Out' With Yellow Pages - 7 June 2000
Calling all those disco groovers - look no further than the new Yellow Pages TV ad for some seriously cool in-home entertainment tips. The new Yellow Pages TV ad, on your screens from 1st June, features a clubbing soundtrack and the strange vibrations of an unusual musical instrument - the theremin, which is long over due for a revival. The theremin produces a clear distinct sound and has been previously used in movies such as Billy Wilders 'Lost Weekend', Alfred Hitchcock’s 'Spellbound' and the Beach Boys hit 'Good Vibrations'.
The ad, called 'Fuzzy Logic', promotes using Yellow Pages for what 'you throw at life' not for what 'life throws at you' - and the emphasis is most definitely on having fun! It shows a young wife lamenting the fact that she and her husband never go out clubbing any more. He is a breed of male that is happiest sitting in front of the TV. All is resolved, however, as the husband puts the Yellow Pages Directory to good use. He hires a DJ and a mobile disco, to fulfil his wife’s desire to get out more and to help them get "match fit" at home, throws a wild party for the two of them... in their own sitting room!
Yellow Pages has created some of our most memorable adverts, winning three British Television Awards in recent years. As well as 'J.R. Hartley', who is now a household name, there have been other notable ads such as 'Life' and 'Cleaners', which won a gold British Television Award in 1998.
Nigel Marson, Yellow Pages Communications Controller, said:
"We’re really excited about this ad. We are very proud of our advertising heritage and the enduring quality of our campaigns. The 'Fuzzy Logic' ad shows how the Yellow Pages Directory can help in any situation, and is always at hand for the fun things in life."
