Yell.com Provides Cross Network Mobile Service - 1 December 2000

Mobile Internet users will now be able to access the entire Yell.com database via wap.yell.com, enabling them to find whatever they need from Yell.com's database of 1.7 million businesses, no matter where they are.

Anyone with a WAP-enabled mobile phone can use Yell.com’s mobile service, available over all UK mobile phone networks. Once registered with a WAP internet service provider (such as Genie or Mviva), users can access the Yell.com mobile service by using the device’s bookmark facility.

The Yell.com mobile service works from a simple menu system, which enables searching by either 'business type' or 'company name'. Once the user has selected the type of search they want to make they key in the company's name and location, or the business type and location and start the search. Users only pay for the cost of the call – the Yell.com service is free.

Nick Harknett, General Manager of Yell.com, said: "We have an on-going commitment to new technologies and channels, ensuring that Yell.com is available wherever our users are, and building value for our new media advertisers. This new development significantly increases our reach."
