Ask Jeeves Finds The Answers With Yell.com - 1 March 2001

Yell.com, the destination site from the Yellow Pages Group, today announced a distribution arrangement with Top 10 UK search engine Ask Jeeves. This means that when people use Ask Jeeves to find information on local suppliers and services they will be taken to the relevant results page on Yell.com.

Nick Harknett, general manager, said: "We are delighted Ask Jeeves have selected Yell.com as their preferred online directory. This continues our strategy of substantially broadening our distribution reach, through agreements with leading internet brands and properties. As well as creating additional brand awareness for Yell.com, it will provide Ask Jeeves’ users with the benefits of Yell.com’s fast and relevant ‘find’ service."

Commenting on why they chose Yell.com, Will Harding, director of Business Development at Ask Jeeves said: "Linking with Yell.com will let us offer great value to our users who are looking for online information on UK businesses and their products. This arrangement reflects our continued commitment to helping people find what they are looking for on the web quickly by taking them to the most relevant answers."

Yell.com is now available via a number of channels including the internet, mobile phones and digital television. The site has extended its internet presence through distribution agreements with MSN, Freeserve and Excite. Its mobile arrangements include BT Internet, Genie from BT Cellnet and the Mviva portal from Carphone Warehouse. Digital television agreements include Sky TV’s Open, Telewest and ONdigital’s new ONnet service.

Yell.com will also extend its consumer reach via the launch of its first ever TV advertising campaign. The campaign, created by Partners BDDH, will be broadcast from March 1st across ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and major satellite channels. This will run for five weeks at regular peak viewing times and will feature the strapline; ‘Don’t Search, just Yell.com’.
