Community spirit rewarded at the Yell.com/Awards 2001 - 10 September 2001

Out of thousands of nominations, six websites have been shortlisted for the Best Community Site in the Yell.com/Awards 2001 - the people’s choice of the ‘best on the Net’. The shortlisted sites include justforteachers.co.uk, caithness.org, 4dp.com, netdoctor.co.uk, naturenet.net and weddingguideuk.com – a winner at the Yell.com/Awards 2000.

Capturing the true spirit of the internet, the shortlisted community sites all bring together people with similar interests and needs. Whether for people with common ground and goals such as teachers, or those planning a wedding, to people who make up real-life communities such as www.caithness.org, these shortlisted sites are invaluable in creating a sense of belonging.

John Condron, CEO of Yell, said: “It’s been another great year for the Yell.com/Awards with an incredible 50% increase in nominations. The Websites that have been shortlisted in the Best Community Site category should be proud of their achievement - they truly do represent the people’s choice of the best on the Net.”

The judges now face the difficult task of selecting one winner in each of the twelve categories. The winning Websites will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony, hosted by Graham Norton, at the Atlantis Gallery in London on 3 October 2001. Sonique and Talvin Singh will be performing at the awards ceremony.
