Easter Gift of Laptop for Schools - 11 April 2001

Schoolchildren and teachers from across Berkshire joined employees from Yell - formerly the Yellow Pages Group - in Reading today for a presentation of laptop computers.

Fifteen local schools* are among one hundred and seventy schools and charities nationwide that have been given laptops by Yell as part of its on-going commitment to donate computer equipment to good causes. The lucky local schools were pulled out of the ‘cyber-hat’ and invited over to the presentation.

"Many of our people have strong personal connections with local schools and so the nominations came from them," said Richard Duggleby, Head of External Relations, Yell. "I’m delighted that we can help out so many schools in areas where we have offices."

The laptops will boost access to IT equipment and will be used for various activities to improve skills, including teacher training, classroom support and computing for children with special needs.
