Votes Hit Record High in the Yell.com/Awards 2001 - 26 July 2001
A 50 per cent increase in nominations for the Yell.com/Awards makes 2001 the most successful year yet for the people’s choice of the best on the net.Now in their sixth year, the Yell.com/Awards 2001 has seen a record number of nominations for the 12 diverse categories. The six-week voting period has provided an exciting platform for well known brands such as www.expedia.com and www.go-fly.co.uk to compete against more local sites like www.youngoxford.co.uk and www.leicesterguide.co.uk for a prestigious Yell.com/Award.
With categories ranging from Best Finance Site to Best Kids and Youth Site, the Yell.com/Awards capture the spirit of the web in 2001. They provide an opportunity for all Websites to be recognised and rewarded - by their users -for their creativity and originality.
John Condron, CEO of Yell said: Good Websites are all about content, ease of use, design and use of technology and the Yell.com/Awards 2001 will reward those sites leading the way. We hope that with the increase in nominations this year’s Yell.com/Awards will truly reflect the ‘peoples choice of the best on the net’.
Nominations closed on July 20 and the panel of high profile judges has begun the mammoth task of selecting one winner in each of the 12 categories. Winning Websites will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony at the Atlantis Gallery, London, in October.
