Yell and Yahoo! UK & Ireland Sign Major Online Distribution Deal - 6 August 2001
Yell, the international directories business, today announced that it has signed a major distribution agreement with Yahoo! UK & Ireland, making online directory service Yell.com the leading UK portal’s preferred business directory.Through the successful integration between Yahoo.co.uk and Yell.com, users are able to access Yell’s database of information using the extensive search facilities on Yahoo! UK & Ireland.
Under the agreement, Yell.com will be placed prominently throughout Yahoo! UK & Ireland, including links to co-branded Yahoo! and Yell.com services at uk.yell.yahoo.com
There will also be promotion in corresponding Yahoo! UK & Ireland sections. These will include categories such as Small Businesses, Classified, Motoring, Jobs, Property and Auctions. The product will be a classic Yell.com service, with a Yahoo! look and feel.
The initial link-up will focus on the internet but also covers the potential provision of services across mobile Yahoo! UK & Ireland already has a mobile offering including a range of WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) services.

The deal is the latest in a number of strategic distribution agreements Yell.com has signed or renewed this year with major internet players such as Excite, MSN, Freeserve and Ask Jeeves.
Yell.com has extended its consumer reach this year through TV advertising and is currently part of a major new Yell marketing strategy through the company’s first ever multi-product TV campaign. The £2.6 million campaign for the first time promotes three Yell brands, Yellow Pages, Talking Pages and Yell.com to consumers as one offering.
