Yell.com Adds Risk Reports to Property Channel - 22 August 2001

The property channel of Yell.com has signed a distribution agreement with Homecheck.co.uk enabling it to now offer online environmental risk reports.

This latest move brings the property channel on Yell.com closer to its aim of being a one-stop property information shop, allowing visitors to the site to find out about environmental risks in their area or near their prospective new home.

Home buyers visiting the property channel of Yell.com can call up a Risk Report simply by entering the postcode of the property they are interested in. A free, brief overview will be provided, showing the risk of flood, landslip, radon, subsidence, landfill, coal mining and industrial pollution. Home buyers can choose to forward the report to their solicitor, surveyor or professional advisors, who can then purchase the full version from Homecheck.

Since its launch less than a year ago, Homecheck has grown to become the largest provider of environmental property risk information, carrying out more than 45,000 property risk reports a week. Its professional services are already used by more than 3,000 lawyers.

Nick Harknett, general manager of Yell.com, said: This new agreement
with Homecheck adds a new and valuable dimension to the range of
information we are providing to visitors to the property channel to help
them make the most informed decisions about a home or prospective
home. No-one wants to go through the turmoil of thinking they have found their dream home, only to discover belatedly that it is sited next door to an environmental catastrophe.
