Yell.com Property Channel helps new buyer in struggle for the perfect home - 22 October 2001

Rising house prices across the South East have meant that getting a foot on the property ladder for first-time buyers has become increasingly difficult, with many being forced to search in unfamiliar areas for properties at affordable prices. However, the right property could be just a click away as first time buyer Lucy McCulloch, from Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, recently discovered when she logged on to Yell.com’s property channel.

Currently living at home with her parents, and working in nearby Teddington, Lucy turned to Yell.com’s one-stop property shop to research and compare affordable properties and local neighbourhoods within her desired locations.

Lucy, who wanted to move into an area such as Wimbledon to be nearer to friends in central London, does not have a car, so public transport and the local amenities were important considerations. She said: “The property channel of Yell.com helped me search for flats at affordable prices in the areas I was interested in. As a first time buyer I had not even thought about council tax rates, solicitors, mortgage and surveyors’ fees and so I used the property channel of Yell.com to research these initial expenses. This site has really helped me make some important decisions, from my initial research right through to turning my new home into my ‘dream home’.”
