Yell teams scale peaks for £10,000 local charity boost - 22 October 2001
Two teams from Yell’s Reading head office have successfully completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, raising a staggering £10,250 for Children’s Aid Direct.Twenty-seven teams took part in the challenge last month, which involved scaling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours. Stuart Gibbons, Yell product development manager, said: “Despite sleet and snow showers at the top of Ben Nevis, we witnessed amazing views of Fort William on our descent. Our support team was fantastic – it organised the kit, fed and watered us and ensured we arrived safely at each peak.” Asked if he would take up the challenge again, Stuart added: “Yes, definitely - we’re already planning for next year!”
Richard Duggleby, Yell’s head of external relations, said: “Once again, Yell people have proved they’re all heart – the teams wanted to give something back to the community and I’m delighted all their hard work has finally paid off, with such a large sum going to a local charity.”
Nearly all the money raised will go directly towards Children’s Aid Direct’s vital work helping children and their carers throughout the world, with two per cent going towards the upkeep of the paths used during the events.
