Yell.com enhances WAP services directory listings - 8 January 2002
Yell.com, the destination site from Yell, today launches an enhanced WAP service (wap.yell.com) offering mobile users an easier way to access its classified database listings of approximately 1.7 million businesses across the UK. The introduction of the enhanced service follows extensive research by Yell.com into the search habits and needs of mobile users. The new service has been designed by Yell.com and developed in conjunction with the global technology specialist Smart421.The Yell.com WAP service enables consumers not only to find local shops, pubs, hotels and restaurants when they are out and about, but also to search for essential business services, such as plumbers, locksmiths and solicitors via intuitive navigation. The service can now be tailored to individual devices, ensuring users of almost any WAP phone or browser- based device can search Yell.com’s classified database by ‘business type’ or ‘company name’ and ‘location’. A new ‘call the number feature’ enables users to call directly through to their selected company, making it easier and quicker to make a call.
