Yell support launch of Marie Curie Cancer Care's ‘Virtual Field of Hope’ - 22 January 2003
A new virtual Field of Hope website has been specially created to launch Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Daffodil Campaign, supported by Yellow Pages.Visitors to the site can plant an electronic daffodil in memory of a loved one and can then make a donation towards the charity’s nationwide home nursing service, ten hospices and research work. The support of Yellow Pages means that funds raised from the Daffodil Campaign and the virtual Field of Hope will go directly to providing services.
The virtual Field of Hope can be accessed at www.mariecurie.org.uk/daffodil where an electronic daffodil can be downloaded. The site will allow you to choose where to plant your daffodil in the virtual field and write the name of the person you wish to remember, as well as a short message.
Visitors to Yell.com will also be able to link straight through to the virtual Field of Hope, which will remain on the Marie Curie website until the end of the Daffodil campaign in April 2003.
The site also contains information about the entire Daffodil Campaign including how to get involved, the latest news and the opportunity to download a screen saver or send a daffodil e-card. The Daffodil e-cards can be used for a variety of reasons; to ask someone to volunteer with you, to let someone know you planted a daffodil for them or even send it to someone as a birthday card.
Marie Curie’s Director of Public Relations and Marketing Chris Dainty said, “This is the first year we have had a virtual Field of Hope, and I think it will be a great success. Through the new site we are able to reach a whole new audience and bring the charity firmly into the 21st century. The virtual Field of Hope is another way to support us, whilst remembering someone special.”
