Yell wins best of European Business Award for TPI acquisition - 29 November 2006
Yell has been recognised at the Best of European Business Awards for its acquisition this summer of Spanish directories business TPI.Yell won the mid-size group in the mergers and acquisition category of the awards, which were presented by The Times newspaper and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
Other contenders in the group, for companies with annual revenues of between £800 million and £2 billion, were Arriva, the transportation group, Euopean Metal Recycling(EMR), the international IT services provider LogicaCMG, and QinetiQ, the defence and security company.
The awards aim to identify those companies that are "developing dynamically, taking risks and building strength from the new Europe".
They seek also to recognise those companies that serve as corporate ambassadors of the UK and which display the potential to become the leaders in their fields, in the UK and globally.
Award judges, comprising senior business leaders, academics and media personalities, were impressed by Yell's consistent strategic approach and ability to apply common IT and business strategies.
Richard Duggleby, Yell’s UK head of external relations, received the award on behalf of the company at a special dinner in central London.
