Yell.com adds more user-generated content in classifieds channel - 29 January 2007
Yell.com, the UK’s local search engine, today announced a new service with Oodle.co.uk, a search engine for local classified adverts. As part of the beta service, Yell.com visitors will have the opportunity for the first time to post their own free adverts on the site.The deal with Oodle will give Yell.com users access not only to second-hand goods including cars, but also to job listings, accommodation listings, pet merchandise and event or concert tickets.
Yell.com already offers users access to over 2m business, shops and services listings, and adding classifieds further enhances the offering. Yell.com users can already add ratings to individual products on Yell’s shopping channel, but the classifieds trial will significantly expand user-generated content on the site and help people access a wider range of information – a new job or place to volunteer, the perfect home, right through to a great deal on a used ladder.
Oodle.co.uk trawls hundreds of classified adverts sites including Reed and Jobsgroup, Look4aproperty and Hotproperty, EBay and Preloved in order to populate the Yell.com site. Oodle updates the site every day with thousands of new classified listings.
