Yell.com introduces affiliates scheme - 17 April 2007

Yell.com, the best place in the UK to find a business, shop or service online, today announces an affiliates scheme designed to provide participating sites with access to its database of more than two million UK businesses, whilst driving more visitors to Yell.com.

Under the scheme, qualifying websites will receive a fixed monthly payment in return for offering their own users access to the valuable data available on Yell.com. There is also a “free affiliates” scheme that does not involve payment, available for sites which do not meet Yell.com’s affiliates criteria.

Large websites with a complementary business focus to Yell.com, for example travel sites, local information sites or property services among numerous others, are expected to benefit from the scheme. Initial feedback has been good, and Yell.com has already seen more than 500 companies sign up to the free affiliates scheme and is in discussion with several websites for the payment scheme.

It is ideal for websites in the retail industry, for example, whose users may need to source tradesmen in order to install the bathroom or appliance they have just purchased. When a site visitor makes a search using the Yell.com box on the host site, they will be sent directly to the relevant results page on Yell.com, from where they access full business contact details, as well as maps and directions.

Affiliates can choose from a selection of Yell.com branded search boxes that are then hosted on their site. More details are available by emailing affiliatelinks@yellgroup.com or by clicking on the “Link to Yell.com” button at the bottom of the Yell.com homepage.

Other affiliate programmes are available for companies who would like a more tailored programme to allow their visitors to benefit from Yell.com data without driving traffic away from their sites.

Ian Bowen-Morris, head of marketing at Yell.com, said: “Yell.com is trusted by millions of UK web users to find important information necessary to their day-to-day lives, and we want to allow affiliate sites to offer their users built-in access to our data and services. I see the new affiliates scheme as giving our customers a wider audience while increasing consumer awareness of Yell.com.”
