Yell wins recruitment award for online Second Life campaign - 20 June 2007

Yell, has won a CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) Innovation Award for its online recruitment campaign in the virtual world, Second Life.

In partnership with Guardian newspapers, the CIPD annual Recruitment Marketing Awards promote innovative recruitment marketing solutions and aim to raise standards across the industry.

Yell took the Best Innovation category that encourages agencies and clients to consider bolder, braver approaches to recruitment marketing.

The company used advertising agency TMP Worldwide to create a team of characters or ‘avatars’, dressed in Yell branded t-shirts to mingle with Second Life locals and encourage them to visit Yell branded telephone boxes to find out about careers within the FTSE 100 international directories business.

Isabelle Hung, Yell’s UK head of national resourcing, said: “Winning the CIPD award is fantastic recognition for such an innovative campaign. Using Second Life was an opportunity to reach people we may not have reached before.”

Yell was also a runner up in the Recruitment Effectiveness category, for a Glasgow based recruitment campaign for Yell.com.
