Yell appoints new media development director in the UK - 5 February 2008

Yell, the international directories business, today announced the appointment of Phillip Snalune to a new senior post with wide responsibility for developing commercial opportunities within the digital arena in the UK.

Phillip Snalune joins Yell as new media development director, reporting directly to the UK’s chief marketing officer Helen Stevenson. He has extensive experience of the new media business sector having held senior management roles at Telewest and most recently at Virgin Media where he was group strategy director and managing director of its non-cable consumer division.

Phillip Snalune will lead the development of new commercial models, products, services and platforms for Yell’s expanding new media presence.

Helen Stevenson said: “I’m delighted that Phillip is joining Yell. He has great experience both of new media strategy and the successful delivery of customer growth and development of new products and services.

“His wide knowledge and expertise of online, mobile and other related channels will be invaluable in helping guide Yell’s future development and I am very much looking forward to working with him.”

Phillip Snalune’s early career was as a specialist consultant in sectors including telecoms, media, government and oil, before spearheading the development of Telewest’s online broadband internet offering.

He then became director of its pay-TV arm, progressing to become director of Product Management and Marketing in 2004. During that time he launched Telewest’s video-on-demand, personal video recorder and high definition TV services.

In 2006, he led the integration of Telewest and ntl’s consumer product teams as managing director of the merged Consumer Products Group, before taking his most recent roles as group strategy director at Virgin Media – the rebranded ntl:Telewest merger – as well as managing director of its £80 million non-cable consumer division.

He is a graduate in Business Studies and History from the University of Surrey and has an MSc in Industrial Relations from the London School of Economics.
