Yell appoints president of new media in the UK - 26 June 2008
Yell, the international directories business, today announces the appointment of Mark Canon to the newly-created post of president of new media in the UK, reporting directly to Group chief executive John Condron.Mark Canon has a highly successful track record in developing and marketing innovative internet directory and search products, having founded Switchboard and having held senior roles at AOL Search and most recently at the internet automotive marketing services company Autobytel Inc, based in California in the United States.
He joins Yell on July 9 and will take direct responsibility for the UK’s new media teams covering strategy, product and service development, and technology across internet, voice and mobile channels.

Mark Canon has spent most of the past 20 years working within product development and marketing. After five years specialising in integration and deployment of information products at Banyan Systems, he founded Switchboard, a leading US online local search provider, and subsequently spent almost ten years there, holding the post of director and vice president of product development and then vice president of business development.
In 2004, he was appointed vice president of product development at AOL Search where he developed the strategy for integrating AOL search products across multiple AOL business units.
Two years later, he moved to Autobytel Inc. as senior vice president and chief product officer with responsibility for product marketing and business strategy, including the launch of new automotive search sites.
He is a graduate in American History from the University of North Carolina.
