Race Online 2012

Yell is delighted to announce that it has become an official partner of Race Online 2012. Led by the UK’s Digital Champion Martha Lane Fox, Race Online 2012 is a landmark challenge which has one proposed mission – to create life enhancing opportunities for the 10 million adults who have never been online.

We have made our Digital Promise to spread the word to small businesses about the importance of being online as well as providing easy, cost-effective ways for them to get online. Yell will also use the skills of its UK workforce to Pass IT on.

Could you pledge an hour to help change someone's life?
There are still 8.7 million people in the UK who’ve never made a free Skype call to a loved one, explored their interests or got a great deal online. On 30 October the clocks go back and we all have an extra hour. Imagine how exciting it would be if we all used this time to help someone get started online...

If you’ve got a relation, friend or neighbour who is missing out on the internet, they’re missing out on loads of ways to make their life easier and more enjoyable. Did you know 90 per cent of jobs require basic internet skills; that the average household can save up to £560 a year by shopping and paying bills online; and over 25 million people are already using Facebook to chat to friends and family?

Get your guide to what to do in an hour, watch inspirational films as famous faces show how they use the web, and find further local support by pledging an hour at www.go-on.co.uk/giveanhour.
